April Showers

If you haven't noticed, it has been raining a little bit lately. The saying "April showers bring May flowers" is around for a reason. So as our spring rain continues for the new few weeks, make sure your vehicle is ready to keep you safe by checking two easy things: your tires and your wiper blades.

When driving on wet road, it is very easy to slip and hydroplane. It is even easier to do so when your tires are bald or the tread is starting to thin out. It is very easy to check the tread left on your tires. Take a penny and turn it so Lincoln is upside down. Stick the penny in tread of your tire. You want part of the top of Lincolns head to be covered; if you can see the tip of his head it is times for replacement tires. It is a lot cheaper to replace tires than it is to recover from an accident from slipping on a wet road.

In order to drive safely, you will need a clear view of the road ahead. A heavy downpour of rain makes it hard enough to see clearly, but if your windshield wipers are worn out it will make it that much harder to see. Most experts say wiper blades should be replaced every 8-10 months.
